OK ill start with all the engine mods this motor has. This motor is currently in my 89 mustang hatch.
Engine: 87 t-coupe with 107K miles
92 volvo radiator and intercooler + volvo fan(forget what year)
Mild home porting job with .100" oversized SS valves (1.59 1.89) with 3-angle cut
84 SVO flywheel with duralast clutch( i know i know....nutsty)
88 tcoupe engine wiring harness with detail zone injector harness
Crane cam (ill get specs when i find em)
intercooler piping from stinger
87 300zx turbo with stinger drain back tube
38mm jdm external wastegate
2.5" exhaust with cat and flowmaster muffler
4 into 1 XSpower header(with port matching. poor quality header )
gillis valve with solenoid to 15 or 7 psi
generic factory motor mounts(new)
FRP head studs with felpro head gasket(what about these MLS headgaskets i've heard about? are they any good)
LB2 computer. I also have an LA3 computer, but it keeps throwing a check engine light, but self test shows nothing? Car runs better on lb2 computer
Now i think that cover engine related components. The car ran awesome in the beginning. Boosted quickly. The car was a real street terror(so i thought ne ways) I drove the car from indiana to here in tampa, FL at macdill AFB. Car is weak and steadily getting weaker. I'm not sure where to start looking. I thought the cat could potentially be clogged, but it doesn't show any of the common symptoms. I have a very small leak around the downpipe flange. Also the car at idle revs up and down, but i cannot find a intake leak. Car now only pulls 11lbs of vacuum at idle where b4 it pulled 14lbs. Then the car doesn't even boost all the way. full boost use to happen at about 3100+ rpms. Now barely passes 7psi. Potential head gasket? Exhaust valve seat issues? Other? I'm still pretty new to the game of the 2.3 turbo world(and engine world for that matter). Some suggestions appreciated.
Future plans involve larger pistons(the cp ones if i hear good things) and 2.5 litre conversion if u will. Turbo upgrades too, but i need to do more research on what is best for my application. Car in its condition now at best probably could only run a 15s+. pretty pathetic. I get beat by preludes for gods sake.
Also could anyone tell me specifically how external waste gates are plumbed in? I've found many of the same diagrams, but when i set it up as they said i would have overboost issues. When i left one line off of the top of the waste gate it blew off just fine.
I hope my information is good. The car has many other goodies as the 5-lug converion with 99+ mustang brakes and other suspension mods which the car handles incredibly well. 7.5" lsd with 3.45 rear ratio
