coilovers?

What coilovers should I go for ? 83 2.3gt mustang. Want good stability and about 3inches lower

Are you sure you want to go 3" lower? Typically 2" lower is pretty far on these cars. This car had a 2" drop and would drag on speed bumps: www.stinger-performance.com/91%20Stang%20New/RearView.jpg

I assume by stability you mean good cornering ability?

yes i mean cornering. and my car sits almost a whole foot off the ground for some reason.. it has 16's with some big fatty tires on it right now too.

There are really a ton of different coilover kits that will work just fine for you. You can adjust them to whatever height you want. You'd be best to call whatever company you choose to purchase from and ask them what spring rate they suggest for your usage as that's really the only variable in the setup. You don't want a "drag race" spring rate if your goal is cornering and such.
