I not getting power to my fan. I have checked every thing I can think of. The fan does work if I hook it to the battery. What should I check. What tells the fan to come on. Before the fan stopped working it would come on as soon as I turn the key on. Thanks for the help guys

The coolant temp sender turns on the fan. It is typically located in the lower intake and has a single push-on wire plug going to it. There is also a fan relay that is inside the IRCM box on your passenger side strut tower that has 20+ wires going into it.

Also you can check the fusible link at the solinoid. Before the ircm is fried the fusible link is destroyed. If you aren't getting power to the relay inside check that.

Do you guys have any pics of the ircm. I think my car has a after market harness in it. All the wire have what they go to printed on the. The one the fan is hooked to has second fan on it. I did find 5 relay on the passenger side and a fuse block with 6 20 amp fuse in it. All the fuses are good. I did not find the coolant temp sender. Does this work with the gauge in the dash. It is not working. Thanks for the help

There are two coolant temp sensors on a stock engine. One for the gauge and on for the fan. On the early 90s models it is screwed into a block in a coolant line going to the heater core. There is also a location on the back of the lower intake manifold or inbetween the second and third injector. The sender for the gauge is on the block just below the oil sending unit. This is assuming a 84 to 86 engine.

Those relays you found replace the IRCM. One sender (rear of block on driver's side just below deck surface) goes to the gauge, the one in the intake goes to the fan, the sensor near the injectors goes to the ecu.

Thanks for the help guys. I found a bad relay. I found all the senders you guy pointed out. The gauge in the dash still don't work, so I put in new autometer gauges. Thanks for the help
