Well after 2 years of Shannon telling me about putting the wastegate dump back in to the exhaust system I finally bought that 4"X1.5" flex pipe to plum it all together. It works a lot better it reduces the noise and (keeps the boost more consistent) in my case. I should have done this when I got it. It also helps so it will keep the vibration down. Great investment I think.
Thanks, Shannon ;D

so what is the purpose of doing this? to eliminate the noise the wastegate makes or does it work that much better then leaving the wastegate external? and what are some good or bad affects to leave it external?

It reduces stress on the header wastegate flange which helps to keep it from cracking from vibration. If designed properly, you can also get a venturi effect from the exhaust flow in the downpipe which will help to draw exhaust out of the collector and through the wastegate. It also makes it quieter. It also keeps the black soot off your crossmember and engine. There are no benefits to running it open aside from the lack of labor required to route it into the downpipe.
