So, because of the high quote I received for having my exhaust done by a local shop, I was strongly advised to handle getting the turbo elbow ready for removal. This was to save me the cost of the shop having to remove my turbo to handle the inevitable task of drilling out any broken bolts on the turbo housing.
I am very ashamed to be admitting this, but it the first time since I have owned the car that I have had the turbo out. It is the first time that I have been able to actually confirm what turbo I actually have in my car. I was TOLD that it is a T3/T4, and that is what I have always operated with the understanding of. I now do not think that is the case, but am wanting to lean on you guys a little bit for some help.
There are no A/R markings on the compressor housing just AiResearch and M11 (which I know is a casting number). The exhaust housing has Precision and A/R .48 on it. I took the compressor housing off and measured the inducer (50mm) and exducer (75mm) and did the math and came up with 44 trim for the compressor wheel. According to what I have read, these numbers do not fall into the range of what a t3/t4 would be. It is my understanding that the perks of a t3/t4 is to utilize the t3 exhaust wheel with a t4 compressor wheel, and I have not seen any T4's with a 44 trim compressor. UNLESS I am missing something completely and am mixing up trim with A/R and confusing myself. Below is a link to the album with the pictures i took of it last night.

How far can I expect this turbo to take me before I have to upgrade it? Will the 3" exhaust I am looking to install "wake" this thing up at all?
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
