I had to down my car for about 9-10 months and before i did i had suspected the head gasket was going, i started my car last week an ran for about 10 mins with no smoke i drove around the block an literaly engulfed it in white smoke, an you can see antifreeze leakin from under the hood so i know its a head gasket, but while i change that being that i have the head off i'd like to know a good size to get the intake an exhaust ported if it not too much money an also what is the best gasket to use, also thought about replacing the cam, should i rebuild the head an if so what lifters, valve ,etc should i use for performance, an also my brakes failed so where can i get some steel braided lines?? i'll be replacing those too

You don't port to a certain size. You do concentrate on porting the short side radius and bowl area though as that is where the restriction is, not where the intake bolts on. Porting is pretty expensive to pay someone to do though. Replacing the cam is always a good option. Stock lifters and such are fine for performance applications. You may want to check your valve seats though, odds are they are leaking and need hardened seats installed on the exhaust side. Braided lines should be available from a ton of different companies that would turn up in a google search.

I see i see, well i'm still green when it comes to tuning, if it wasn't for auto school half the stuff you just said i'd have no clue as to what you were talkin bout but it makes sense to me now, oddly enough we have all of the equipment to do repairs at my school + every instructor is master certified an really knows what they talkin bout, so i should be doin this with they help, as far as porting goes i wanted to know a size that gets results, proven from previous users such as yourself, but yeah everywhere i check wanted massive cash flow to do it, as far as cams go i know it's not just get a new one an bolt on, as far as timing goes i still need a lil help on that, i don't want to put this car 2gether an have it blow up on me
