I have a 87 2.3t coupe motor in my 79 mustang. the motor is all stock and i was wanting to no what all i have to get to do the roller cam from the ranger and will it be OK for the stock head and parts. Also did the 87 come stock with spring cups? And I work at a mustang shop all i work on it mustangs all day. I had my car towed there to see if they could get the timing set right but we all couldn't do it. It still only jumps to about 22 degrees BTDC when i plug the spout back in it there something else that could cause this problem?

You'll just need the cam itself and the roller followers. The 87 did come with spring cups. Are you setting it to 10 degrees below TDC with the spout out (and can you actually read the numbers on the timing cover or just see the indentions?)?

Ranger makes max power by 5k or so. No reason to spin it over 5500 rpm or so. I've never heard of one advancing but not advancing enough.
