I'm getting ready to install mvs 38 tial wastegate. If I'm running a boost controller, what psi spring should I install? It is 86 turbo coupe with stock turbo, center mount header, larger injectors, max effort intake, fmic rotated upper, 3 inch downpipe and exhaust with wastegate deleted and pimp. Base engine is bone stock.

The spring in the wastegate controls the minimum amount of boost you can run (so with a 10psi spring you can't run 6psi at wide open throttle for instance) as a boost controller can only raise boost above WG spring pressure. As a general rule of thumb it's best to not have your max boost be more than double your spring pressure. It's also best to have the ability to run less than your planned "max boost" for diagnostic purposes (turn it down if you're having running issues so you don't blow it up diagnosing the problem). So if you plan to run no more than 20psi, a 10psi spring (or above) is fine.

What would you assume the boost limit would be for my setup to be safe?

Depends on what octane premium fuel is in your area. 91 octane normally not more than 20 (and often less), 93 can normally get away with low 20's.
