I'm getting my 3" exhaust kit installed on my 84 turbo coupe. The mid pipe seems to contact the crossover e-brake cable. It doesn't seem to matter over or under. What is everyone doing about this?

Some put a few washers above the crossover to space it down, others choose to mount the muffler a bit higher to allow the pipe room to clear.

I've been trying to do as you suggested. I've got it tucked up a tight as I can get the mid pipe, without running into the big ring on the u-joint. It does come into contact with the bracket for the spring that holds up the e-brake cross over cable. It still does not seem high enough to clear the cable. Also it is very tight in the gas tank are. I've already trimmed about 1.5" off the front of the over axle pipe don't wanna cut much more in fear of not having enough room for the band clamp before the bend up. Time for a break and then back to it.

You've still got that big weight ring on the driveshaft? Yeah that makes you not be able to tuck it as high as is preferred. It is tight around the gas tank. That's the consequence of trying to squeeze a 3" mandrel bent pipe into an area designed for a 2.5" crush bent pipe.

Ive got it buttoned. Up. Once i got my mount welded to the muffler and it place. Then i got the mid pipe to rotate better clear the u joint ring just need to make the spring hold the e brake cable a little bit higher. I was not able to get the metal drive shaft safety bracket back on. No big deal in my head. And yes i still have the huge factory ring on the u joint. I did bend the gas tank flange up and out of the way for a bit more room around the tail pipe.

That's not a safety bracket, it's a bracket to hold a weight for NVH (noise, vibration, harmonics). Should be long gone with any performance application anyway so no harm there.

I think we have different brackets in our heads. I'm not talking about that metal piece that bolts to the rear axel I'm talking about the metal bar type piece that bolts across the trans tunnel in front of the axel. That is why I called it a driveshaft safety bar type thing. The exhaust sounds great don't want to install a cat but I will have to before next Mo state inspection.

When you said "I was not able to get the metal drive shaft safety bracket back on" I assumed that means the big bracket that bolts to the trans tailshaft and holds a weight under the front of the driveshaft. Either way, doesn't matter.
