I was considering ordering a aluminun flywheel for my 88 T-Coupe that is going to be used for street / auto cross, are there any issue as far as drivability and is the performance gains worth it ?

The aluminum flywheel (for a 2.3, not the 5.0 conversion unit) contains much less mass than the stock unit. This creates a situation where more throttle input is required when leaving from a stop. Once rolling, there are no downsides, only benefits.
The heavier the car, lower the rear gear ratio, and lower the low rpm torque, the greater the "problem" with getting rolling becomes.

I have it in my car it's fine just the stop and go not to bad for my car like Shannon explained I have 410gears . But It's great for the hp difference in the the car and the Clutch holds up a lot better.
