Has anyone tried to see if it will work pretty much the same as a 1997

It's listed for 87-95 Rangers. The 96+ Rangers are not "pretty much the same" as the earlier stuff as far as the ECU is concerned, the connector is completely different (60 pin vs 100 pin) so it won't physically connect to the harness because the 96+ Rangers use Ford's 5th generation (EEC-V) while the older Rangers are 4th generation electronics (EEC-IV).
To use it on the later Rangers, you either convert an older harness to work with the newer Ranger, or rewire the stock Ranger harness to use the 60 pin connector from the earlier Rangers.

Buying a harness works if your turbo swap is a full turbo engine swap (distributor, turbo intake manifold, etc.). If you're putting a turbo on your Ranger engine and using all the Ranger accessories, head, intake, etc. then it doesn't really work as our harnesses are for TFI ignition and you've got DIS or EDIS, dual coil packs, etc. The ECU can run all that stuff without issue though.
