Have you checked to make sure the timing belt has not slipped? Have you pulled codes?

"How do I know if the timing belt has slipped" Line the timing mark on the dampener with the zero mark on the front timing cover. Remove the outer timing belt cover. On the cam gear there will be a mark that should line up with a mark on the inner timing cover if it lines up then your cam timing is good if not then the belt has jumped. Go buy a cheap code reader to read the codes there is a plug under the hood usually on the drivers side near the hood hinge

You probably blew a headgasket because the timing was wrong (especially if they didn't remove the spout to set timing), though it could be a million other things. You just buy an EEC-IV code scanner for $20 or so from any parts store or eBay and plug it in to scan codes.
