Good day everyone. I’m in the process of installing the FMIC kit and ran into a bit of a snag. I installed the kit and it seemed to go well. When I tried to install the header, it sticks out 2” from where it needs to be. I read that in may need to move the AC condenser an inch back. While that helps, I’m still an inch short. Does anyone have pictures of the install and a few comments on what they have done? I have the build underway on four eyed pride. vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread.php?193139-SVO-EH-Build/page2any help would be appreciated.

When I tried to install the header, it sticks out 2” from where it needs to be. Can you expand on what "it" is referring to here? I'm not sure what you're saying is sticking out 2".

It refers to the intercooler. If you open my build page you will see a few pictures which should help. Basically when I installed everything, I found the coller interferes with the header panel. I read the information online and it said I would have to move the AC cooler back. That will give me an inch but not two that I will need.

Oh, the header panel, not an exhaust header. Now I understand what you're referring to.
Do you have any pics showing where the intercooler is relative to the lower radiator support area?

I can't really tell definitively what it is that's making it be a little too far forward. My best guess based on the pics is it's related to the thicker radiator with larger end tanks which is making the radius of the condenser lines hit the square edge of the end tank instead of rolling around the corner of the smaller stock radiator end tank. This is just the best I can tell based on the pics. Would be easier to tell if I was looking directly at the car.

I thought the rad was too big as well. I removed the condenser line brackets and it didn’t help. The bottom is my biggest issue and don’t have a great idea how others moved the condenser ahead. If someone has a few pictures that would be great.

How about sliding the radiator rearward on the lower mounts to leave clearance/make up for the thick radiator?

I’ll play with it some more this weekend. While I am waiting, I purchased a bypass valve but considering a blow off valve. I see you sell both but with the VAM, I am concerned with drive ability. Most articles suggest with MAF to use a bypass. What are the risks with using a blow off valve?

If you use any ol' random BOV then it will run poorly as it will leak air at idle and cruise. If you use a dual piston BOV like we sell that's designed for metered-air applications (MAF, VAM) then it won't run any different than a BPV.

Good sales pitch Shannon, it’s on order.

Thanks, I see the order.
Not a sales pitch, just facts that apply to any dual piston BOV made for metered air applications.

I am installing this kit into an SVO. The cooler appears to be symmetrical. Should it be shifted left or right? How far should it be raised above the lower support?

There is a little wiggle room side to side but it should be pretty well centered. The u bends can move up/down to allow the intercooler location to move up/down some as well. In general has to be low enough for the inlet/outlet to fit below the bumper supports. This should put it about level to 1" or so above the bottom of the radiator support.
