I have 1986 mustang svo and am installing pimp not xs do i need a act sensor if so where is best place to install since it wont thread into knock sensor hole ( to big) or do in need one

You do need one.
Easiest method is to put it where the EGR used to go. To do this, remove the EGR (ECU doesn't use it anyway), then put a block off plate in its place and drill/top the block off plate for the ACT's pipe threads so the sensor lines up with the old EGR hole in the intake.
You can also add a bung to the intercooler tubing after the intercooler, if you have a front mount intercooler.
Can also drill and tap the upper intake and put it in there (but the EGR option is the cleanest option IMO).
