I am in the process of rewiring my ECU harness to add some extra outputs and clean up the extras that I no longer need. My car is setup with dual cooling fans and an older v1.4 pimp ECU. I added a wire for both a primary and secondary fan to the harness (pin 52 and 55). I am in the process of wiring the fan side now and I am debating whether to keep independent fans (primary and secondary) or just wire both fans to go on and off at the same time using pin 52 of the ECU only. I have a dual relay setup. The car does not have AC. Any advantage to independent control of the fans?
Thanks, Chuck

Only advantage I can see is if two fans coming on at once causes too big of an amp draw and tries to stall the engine hard enough that it's difficult to fix with tuning. Normally dual fans are most beneficial for cars with a/c that can run one fan normally and two if the a/c is on (or if it's trying to overheat).

I had this idea as well. with an xr4ti, could you use fan control rather than programmable on off outputs?

You can use one or the other, you just have to make sure you disable whichever one you aren't using, and make sure the one you are using has the correct output selected so it knows what pin you're wiring the fan to.

My main goal I'm trying to accomplish is to be able to have the fan come on once the AC is turned on. I'm working on limited wiring diagrams, and have little to no info on the AC system wiring. If I command the fans to come on with AC, will it work? Or is there a way to get it to work?

The application doesn't mean anything. The ECU and fans don't know what vehicle they are in. All that matters is what fan(s) you have, and what you want them to do/when you want them to do it. There are tons of possibilities at your disposal. If you want help with how to do whatever you want to do, you need to create a thread in the PiMPx section and describe in detail what components you have, how you want them to operate, etc. Include your tune as well.
