Anyone know of the existence of alignment dowels for a 2.3/T5? I have not been able to find any. I'd welcome other suggestions for aligning the bellhousing as well? I've not seen any alignment dowels with a bolt hole in the middle. Really weird design on these engines!

I Googled "mustang bellhousing alignment dowels" and got multiple hits for hollow dowels. I'm not positive what applications use the same diameter or what diameter the stock ones are so I'd start by measuring the hole diameter in the bell or block and go from there.

Your google must work better than mine, I've been coming up empty except for some Ford mod-motor dowels. I was just hoping someone had been through this before here, as it would be necessary on a racing setup.

It doesn't matter what the dowels are for, it just matters that they are the right diameter and length (but length is easy to adjust).

Yeah, I realize that. I need to replace the battery in my digital caliper (yay for "technology"!) to get an exact measurement, but it appears to be a bit over .6" I did a little research, my bellhousing is built from this one www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/bellhousings/parts/RM-4058 and the instructions refer to this part for Ford "mod motors": www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/bellhousing_accessories/parts/RM-140 These are .628" and I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this is what I need based on my crude measurement, since earlier Ford dowels are .5" and are not hollow. I've not seen any other hollow dowel available that is at least .6". GM dowels are .621" but are not also not hollow.

Upon further research, I think the .628" dowels for a mod motor are not the right size, based on turboford.org/thread-indexing-a-bell-housing?page=2 there is no commercially available alignment dowels, and they are more like .6125. I may resort to contacting a machinist friend to see if he could make a set.

I wonder if the head alignment dowels are the same size by chance?

I got a battery for my caliper yesterday and got one of the dowels extracted, it measures .605" in outer diameter +/- .0005. Seems like people on TurboFord.org have resorted to various alternatives to try and align their bellhousing. I also noticed that the admin there had offered to make custom dowels, so I may try to contact him.
I just have a stock NA engine, but I feel certain that some of the serious performance guys who are drag racing and the like must have encountered this problem before!

Yeah, Paul Leduc on TF makes dowels for the C4 guys.
