Good evening. Dropped the engine, trans and pulled the pedal assembly from the TC today and while looking at what it takes to take the EGR system out I started to wonder if there are things that should be done while the engine is out. I have a turbo from another build that might find it's way onto the car while it is out, but would have to kick myself for not doing things like sensors etc that are prone to problems while everything is sitting on the ground.
Trying to figure out how to post pictures or would include a few
Thanks

Things that are hard to access in the car but easy when it's out off the top of my head:
Oil feed line Oil return line Coolant lines (specifically what goes behind the head and under the intake, and what goes under the turbo if it's a water cooled turbo). Timing Cover/Timing Pointer Clutch/Flywheel

Timing belt is another one that's way easier now.

Just a thought…Once when I had all the coolant drained, it was a good time for me to replace the water pump, the thermostat, the ECT sensor, and the rad hoses.
