Was tearing into some wiring issues today - testing why the convertible top stopped working (looks like the electric motor has burnt out), why my no matter which setting on the heater controls I selected it only pushed air out the Defrost (vac line had come undone) and lastly why the car overheats when not in motion. Had already changed water pump and thermostat and tested the electric fan to ensure that it works, so knew it had to be wiring. Lots of information about the controller beside the fusebox burning out and ways that people had bypassed it by either putting a manual switch in etc BUT the question i have is this
As I am planning to go PIMPx and I believe this controls the fans should I even worry about trying to figure out what is going on with the wiring before I swap the TC engine in next week? Correct me if I am wrong, but the PIMPx wiring harness would do away with all the FORD wiring for the fans ?
Oh and should the TC double fan set up be taken out and swapped to the Mustang?
Thanks in advance

What range thermostat are you using ?...I used a repinned XR4Ti s.a hareness for my 88 T-coupe ecu but I also used the XR4Ti fan & harness in my 93 LX convertible. I picked the cars body up from p.o who was attempting a 2.3T swap but lost interest. He had installed a radiator "ranger 4.0 I THINK" and it takes a long time for my car to get hot enough to activate fans grounding switch just sitting in garage running. I have a 180 thermostat with the ground switch kicking On at 195 and 0ff at 185. My ford mustang schematic n vacuum manual has stock switch activating at 227 which I feel is way to hot....maybe thats why these engines crack heads so bad....exhaust bowl turns into heat sink ...GOOD LUCK !

Believe that the previous owner sold the car because he was having overheating issues, they had replaced the radiator and heater core but the car ran VERY HOT on the 1 hour drive home. Pulled the thermostat and ran it without one to see if it would still overheat and it did but didnt get as hot, so replaced the water pump and flushed the system. Was definitely cooler but still ran hot when idling as the fans werent coming on.
Yesterday i bypassed the ford controller and wired it to a temp switch. Really hoping that the PIMPx harness will take care of the issue, rather than spending hours trying to figure this out.
Thanks Frankensvo

Our PM-65 and PM-66 harnesses include a fan relay and such.

Thanks Stinger. That is the answer I was looking for - can ditch all the Ford wiring and just go with the new harness. Will leave the switch in till i get the suspension set up, and the drivetrain swapped over and then we can talk about which PIMP system to go with

The harness currently takes a few weeks to get so if you've not already ordered that, I'd get that moving ASAP.
