I’m finally getting around to installing my pimpx soon as it cools off a little bit (only two years behind but who’s counting lol) and I’m gathering up everything I’ll need. I really want to get rid of the dizzy and run a coil near plug setup. Initially when I bought my pimpx the CAS wasn’t available and I had planned to run one of Pete’s kits and just grab an edis module and coil and then ask here how to wire it up 😂. I still am leaning that way as it will ditch the dizzy (opens up room for intake activities later) and it appears to be a slightly cheaper if not more labor intensive route. I love the plug and play capability of the CAS setup but keeping the dizzy gives me pause. Am I overthinking it and what are the pros and cons of both setups? Appreciate anybody’s opinions as mine are only based in internet knowledge not real world.

You'll also need a cam sync with the Pyropete kit.
Functionally, as far as performance, there won't be a difference. The CAS is obviously the much simpler setup (one ignition sensor, no EDIS module, etc.) and is easier to install. It's also much shorter than the distributor cap so it opens up clearance for an intake.

I would also need the expansion harness correct? That’s another bit I didn’t think about financially so it appears it may end up about the same cost wise either way. So in all reality just two different way to skin the same cat?

Yes, you'd need the coil on plug expansion main harness (or the expansion flying lead harness if you're looking to do more wiring), the EDIS module, the coil pack, etc.
Yes to the last statement.
