thanks for posting it the right way stinger......
i cant honestly tell you what the cam is cause im not sure.... i do however know that the car used too start pulling hard at 2k and not its above 3k before it starts too... im still playing with the timing but having a few little issues getting it dialed in where i want it..... the back of the cam said wilson on it when i got it and the head..... the head has 4mm larger intake valves on it and is d-port just like the turbo head that came plus double valve springs too. oh and manley intake and exhaust valves.... but it still needs more power how much timing does the pcm give it when you plug in the spout connector?

how much timing does the pcm give it when you plug in the spout connector? Depends on the conditions (rpm, load, fuel type, rate of acceleration, etc.). It's somewhere in the low-mid 20's "total" though. At idle it's in the low-mid 30's.

yeah that would make alot of since....... base timing is set at 15 deg. right now.... ive got too get my 255 pump put in soon too. i played with the timing some more last night and the car runs alot better but im sure im still missing something.... i might have another fellow 2.3t guy in my area drive it and just see if they think is okay....

If you're running 15psi or more, you're running WAY too much timing and you will melt down a piston or blow a headgasket because of it...as well as hammer the rod bearings. This isn't a 5.0 that needs an extra 5-6 degrees to run well...

okay soo i guess i put that wrong.... im running 15 degrees btdc.....and actually am gonna play with it some..... right now im only running 15 psi. do you still think thats too much? or should i back it down some more?

No, those two ways you stated your timing both mean the same thing...15 degrees BTDC with spout out is about 30 degrees total with the spout in....WAY too much. My engine on the dyno liked a total of 18 degrees. Iron heads typically don't want more than 21-23 degrees total on pump gas.

aaaahhhhhhh okay im sorry i totally misunderstood.... what you stating make since and also makes since as too how car is running as well i will be sure and get that changed.... i was over thinking it i guess.... total timing can be between 10 and 18 degrees... sorry man im an idiot!

Not sure what you mean by "total timing can be between 10 and 18 degrees..."...there is no truth to that statement.
Raising the base timing 5 degrees also raises total timing 5 degrees. Base timing is what it reads with the spout removed when checked with a timing light, Total timing is the advance the ecu commands when the spout is plugged in. It varies based on the inputs listed above. The ecu has no idea what the base timing is, it just assumes it's 10 degrees like it is from the factory. That's why changing the base timing adds/subtracts that amount from the whole timing map. When you don't know what's going on, set it stock and leave it alone or you'll break parts.

So does that mean you did or didn't get what I was saying?

i went ahead and just put the car back to factory settings.... i went too all data and look to see where its supposed to be with spout unhooked....... set it there and just plugged back in the spout and thats how it is now........ just too see what would happen i set the car too 18 degrees and my car runs like nuts.....so im either doing something wrong. at 18deg the car runs but doesnt start pulling till 4500....... i dont think this cam is setup for turbo i think its for something else....

Is the timing advancing when you plug the spout back in?
