You shouldn't need to run compatibility mode, that driver works with Windows 7 without issues (as long as your com ports are matched up as described earlier).
With that said, compatibility mode converts your operating system (Win7) to the older system of your choice (XP, Vista, etc.), that's why it doesn't list Win7...you are converting Win7 to XP or Vista or Win95 or whatever. You can't convert Win7 to Win7.

The driver is installed, you don't need to run the prolific file again. Where did you try changing the port?
How about you tell me what port the driver is installed on in the control panel > device manager and we work from there.

When i am in device manager, Where i should see : PORTS(COM & LP) I see an icon that says USB 2.0ser. I know that that is the Mega squirt because when i unplug it it goes away........When i click on that icon (where i should see tabs for, GENERAL, PORT SETTINGS, DRIVER, DETAILS, RESOURCES) I only see three tabs (GENERAL, DETAILS, and DRIVERS). I guess what i am trying to say is that if those tabs are not there, how do i change the port? I went to my fire wall and added all the nessisary programs through, but still nothing. I did stumble across this Text Note in my windows search bar: $Id: megasquirt-ii.ini.ms2extra,v 1.133.6.70 2008/04/26 20:58:42 jsmcortina Exp $ ; configuration defines ;Normally these next lines should be UNset ;This enables the trigger logger page. At this time no simple software exists to interpret the data ; ;For TunerStudio ;the unset is just the default. All settings defined in the ini can be changed through the UI ;On the Menu: ; Project-->Properties ; Click the Settings Tab. #unset TRIGLOG ;This enables the "full" CAN/serial commands so this INI can be used anywhere on the CAN network. #unset CAN_COMMANDS [MegaTune] MTversion = 2.25 ; MegaTune itself; needs to match exec version. #if CAN_COMMANDS versionInfo = "r\x00\x0e\x00\x00\x00\x3c" ; Title bar queryCommand = "r\x00\x0f\x00\x00\x00\x14" ; Verify against signature. #else versionInfo = "S" ; Put this in the title bar. queryCommand = "Q" ; Verify against signature. #endif signature = "MS2Extra Rel 2.0.0 " ; MS-II sends a null at 20th byte. ; 123456789.123456789. That seems to me that it is comunicating with the M.S. (so it seems) I am lost!!!!!!!

Saqve the driver to your documents, then go to your docs and open when u do on the left it lets u chose to extract all files, Do so then open all three files. I had to do this to mine. It woulkd not auto opoen all three for some reason. Good luck and njice to mete u.

I'm running out of ideas because at this point I'm not sure what is set right and what's not. Have you changed the com port number in tunerstudio > communications and just tried a bunch of them (com1, com2, com3, etc.) clicking the "test port" after each selection?

I have been all over the net and finding that this error code 28 is becoming a big problem with windows 7. The only type of fixes that i am coming up with are to down load some type of system scan progam that will detect and fix the problem. I want to try them out but dont know were i can find a safe one. Any suggestions?

Odds are the suggested programs are safe. If you question their safety, do a google search for the specific program you are looking at with "x program scam" or "x program safe", etc.
