Toasted the clutch in my bird on the way home from a friends house yesterday so I just ordered a spec stage 2+ from Stinger. I have read conflicting views on the spec clutches so I'm looking for some opinions from anyone here who has in the past or is currently running a spec clutch. Also, is there a break in procedure for this clutch, do I need a special throw out bearing or are there any special instructions for the adjustment of this clutch?
thanks.

You don't need any special parts and the adjustment is the same as a stock clutch. They typically advise to drive it "normal" for 500 miles without any clutch dumps, high rpm shifting, or excessive slipping.

I've had 2 Spec Clutches and I love them. I currently have the stage III+ in my 5.0L Capri and it's a real nice clutch. Definitely break it in with some light driving for a couple hundred miles and you'll be good to go.

I think every clutch says light driving for the first 500 . On my rx8 I had to keep my rpm under 6k unless I was on the high way.

Figured I would follow up on this, Ive put almost 300 miles on the new clutch and I'm very happy with it so far. I replaced clutch, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, machined and put a cross finish on the flywheel. The only negative thing ive noticed so far is that if i try to start out at a really low rpm it tries to chatter. Pedal feel seems slightly stiffer then stock but seems to engage more firmly. If It will last a decent amount of time I'll have no complaints.

Other people have reported the "chatter" gets to be less and less pronounced as the clutch breaks in and "seats" with the flywheel.

If I may ask, why would one go with a Stage 2+ when the Stage 3 is $55 cheaper??

The 2+ is designed to have similar holding power but be less "racy" feeling so it's easier to drive on the street...or easier for your wife/girlfriend/sister/mom to drive if that happens.

I have a stage 2 in my car now and it chatters like crazy when out of gear and the pedal is no depressed. How do I stop that noise?

That's not what chatter is. Chatter is rough engagement when slipping the clutch to get the car rolling.

Then what do I call it when the clutch is out and the trans in neutral and the car is idling and I hear rattling noise? It goes away when I depress the clutch pedal.

Typically it's called a bad input shaft bearing inside the trans.

Well that stinks. Is it a very hard to do repair/replacement? I've never known much about transmissions!
