I'm finally selling the Mach and will have some cash ready to buy a full tubular header back exhaust and FMIC and then I can put her back together and register. Questions are which option do I need to select when ordering parts? With the exhaust I can get it with an external wastegate, do I need that? And with the FMIC I can get it with a bypass/blowoff valve tube, do I need that? The car is stock engine and computer wise from the factory. 85 SVO. I want to get close to the 300hp range without having to do a lot with the comp further than a piggyback so what parts with this exhaust and FMIC do I need? Oh, and 35mm, 38mm or 40mm wastegate? And which one of the bypass/blow off valve or waste gate actually controls boost levels and how do I change them? I know these are elementary questions but I know jack crap about turbo's still!

At that hp level you can run an internal or external gate. You'll just need to buy the header downpipe that matches your choice. 38mm gate if you choose to go external.
Yes you'll need a bypass/bov.
Our FAQ page answers the last question.

So when I get the FMIC, full exhaust, bypass/blow off valve and external wastegate what else would I need to make everything work it's best? Is it required I do anything with the computer right now? Should I go ahead and take care of the fuel system and upgrade the pump? What about injectors?
My car sold today so I'm just waiting on answers before I order.
Thanks for the help

The ecu, injectors, vam, and stock turbo are all limited to about the same hp. Until you go with a larger turbo, you shouldn't need to upgrade the injectors (which requires a chip). A walbro 255 high pressure pump is always a good idea when you are planning for over 250rwhp.

It will come in multiple packages. The FMIC kit is made to order so it probably won't ship until mid-week. Things will start arriving late next week with the final items arriving about 10 days from now.

I would put a Kirban adjustable fuel pressure regulator on that car too. Get a fuel pressure guage from Harbor Freight so you can set the pressure up and make sure pressure goes up as boost comes on.

I got a fuel pressure gauge already, but I'll go ahead and look for a Kirban when I order the Walboro neex weekend. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hey Stinger, I don't remember choosing an external wastegate size. Since you suggested a 38mm for my car that would be the size I would chose. Hope it's not too late to get the right one in the order.

That's the default size so you'll be fine.

Look at all them goodies!!!!! I see you have a set of coil overs on that car. Are you running a UPR K-member kit?

Yeah I bought it with that kit, the coil overs and some adjustables in the back that I can't remember the name of right now...
Work has been killing me lately and I haven't even had the time or energy much less to lay out the pipes to try a mock up. Have to go back to Ace hardware to get some shorter bolts for the header. After that's on things should fall into place. Also, who here has done the FMIC install? I don't even know where to start with that!
