How is it taking so long to check compression? You should be able to do all 4 cylinders by yourself in 15 minutes or less??? Did you take all the spark plugs out first? If not, that's how you are supposed to do it because otherwise a leak between two cylinders won't show up.

because i had some famliy probelms i had to help my cuzin tow his jeep, the motor mount broke when he was driving down the highway. i was told to leave the spark plugs in and take them out 1 by 1 but i will redo it it the morning

Here is a couple of pointers for doing a compression test 1 engine should be at operationg temp, in neutral, park brake on 2 pull all of the spark plugs 3 jump the starter solinoid to roll the engine over do not turn on the ignition or use the key 4 hold open the throttle body, this allow as much air in as possible 4 roll over engine until peak compression is reached usually three or four revolutions

hey stinger i did all cylinders ok cyl 1 124, and cyl 2 it will not build pressure it hits 80-85 and gose to zero really fast same with cyl 4, and cyl 3 is 145 and holds pressure. but cyl 2 shoots mist out of the spark plug hole it kind of smells like gas but i am not sure. is it still a blown head gasket

Looks like it's blown on #2 and #4...pull the head. The mist is coolant...

so it is a head gasket then wright. ok so i just need to swap in a new head gasket and she will be fine?? what is a good but cheap head gasket?? is the felpro brand any good

i was told it could be my rings??? is that a possable problem??? would it be wise to also do a leak down test??? or should i just start tearing her down??

Rings go bad at the same rate in every cylinder so they would all be at like 100 or something if that was the problem. They also don't cause white/grey smoke or mist to blow out the spark plug hole. It's the headgasket.

Just get a Felpro 8993, should only be about 10-15 bux.

hey stinger i re did it and now cyl 2 show's 125-145, cyl 1 is 124-125 so still the same for that one. i got a new gaugse because i thought this one that i am useing if broken,. but is there a sertant amout of time's you have to turn it over? ? this sucks man LOL

hey i towed my car to a friends shop and we re did it like 3 times to make sure and the copression is good the bumbers are 1 124-125, 2 124-125, 3 141, 4 145, could this be my fuel pressure regulator? or is it still a headgasket?

ya they are all out. i re did it because i wanted to make sure my numbers were wright, would it be my fuel pressure regulator? or my timing maby, but the compression is good. the fuel regulater would'nt that make my car run rich and make my oil smell like gas??? is it posable that it woul dhave jumped a tooth??? its weird, the timeing could make my car run like this, my car wont rev past 3000 and its running rough and also when i rev the car the motor starts to shake kind of bad. any more ideas man?
